Client Overview

Procter & Gamble (P&G) is a global consumer goods company known for its strong focus on research, innovation, and consumer insights. This project involved the development of a Consumer Learning Center designed to support product research and consumer behavior studies. The facility was developed as a Design & Build project spanning approximately 6,500 square feet across four levels. The center represents a unique concept, with only a few such facilities globally, created to enable in-depth consumer interaction and product testing within a controlled environment.

Problem Statement

The client’s objective was to create a specialized research environment where consumers could interact with products and provide feedback that would help analyze product positioning and usage behavior within the Asian market. The facility needed to simulate a real residential environment while operating within a commercial office building. This required careful planning to ensure that the space felt authentic and comfortable for participants while also supporting observation and research activities conducted by the client’s internal teams.

Design Approach

The design approach focused on creating a realistic residential setting that could support controlled observation and product testing. The layout was developed as a simulated apartment environment featuring multiple bathrooms and functional living spaces that replicated a real household setting. An observation deck was strategically integrated into the design to allow researchers to discreetly observe consumer interactions and gather insights without affecting the natural behavior of participants. The design ensured that the residential environment appeared natural and cohesive while supporting the technical requirements of research and monitoring activities.

Execution

Execution required precise detailing and custom-built elements to bring the simulated residential environment to life within the office space. Bespoke millwork and specially designed furniture were incorporated to achieve the desired residential aesthetic while maintaining functional performance. Careful planning and integration of concealed design elements ensured that the environment remained authentic and visually seamless. Once operational, the facility successfully supported consumer testing activities, and the initial user response reflected the effectiveness of the design and execution. The completed Consumer Learning Center met the client’s expectations and created a unique research environment aligned with P&G’s global innovation initiatives.
